Primary 3

The Final Countdown!

Where has the time gone? Terms one and two have flown by very quickly and we are now on the countdown to Primary 4! In this final P3 term the children will work hard as they prepare for the year ahead. We would greatly encourage you to continue supporting your child at home with homeworks which consolidate the learning being done in school. In this final term we will be revisiting grammar topics covered throughout the year as a way of consolidating the learning which has taken place.

Learning will be based around the new theme.

Our theme is ‘By Land, By Sea, By Air' and within this we are going to discuss:

  • Transport - the different vehicles which move by land, sea and air.
  • Road safety - taking care as a pedestrian and following the Green Cross Code.
  • Transport in the past and some famous inventors.
  • Holidays - travelling to the seashore.
  • Comparing and contrasting holidays to the seashore now and in the past.
  • Animals and plants which inhabit our local seashore.
  • Hobbies - activities people do for fun on land, sea and in the air.

Please keep up the hard work with the reading and spellings - the extra support which your child receives at home does not go unnoticed!

Primary 4

In this final term, the children will be consolidating learning which has taken place throughout the year. Please use reading time each night to pick out things such as verbs/adverbs/nouns/adjectives and perhaps your child could be the teacher and ask you to spot things from the story.

Please use the main P4 class page for more information regarding the class theme and topics covered.

Thank you for your continued support with homework-it is very much appreciated.

Primary 5

In our final term the children will be consolidating their learning from throughout the year and using their knowledge to complete some lovely pieces of written work. They have been working hard at comprehension exercises and are becoming more independent at finding evidence for themselves. The children are taking regular Accelerated Reading tests.(some with a bit of prompting!) Please encourage your child at home to read regularly and you can help your child by asking them questions about what they have been reading.

Thank you for your continued support.  Please continue to help them with their spellings, high frequency words and reading and give lots of encouragement for good effort. I hope you are enjoying seeing your child at 'work' via the See-Saw messages. It's great to use these opportunities to discuss what they have been doing.
