Today we began our EGGS-periment! (Get it!) We are discovering what happens to an egg when it is submerged in clear and coloured vinegar.
We made lots of predictions such as...
- the egg will bubble
- the shell will dissolve and disappear
- the shell will crack
- the egg yolk and white will mix with the water to make a slime
- the egg will change colour
We then set up the experiment. We created a control jar, where the egg was just submerged in water. This will help us the see the difference between water and vinegar.
Our eggs are submerged in three colours: pink, purple and blue.
At the end of the day, we noticed that part of the shell was peeling off the egg. I wonder what we will notice tomorrow.
