Fresh Little Minds

7th Feb 2019

All parents are invited to a ‘Fresh Little Minds’ information session in the school on Monday 4th March at 9:00am. We have been running the Fresh Little Minds ‘Grow’ programme in school this year which is targeted at children aged 5 to 12 years and introduces children to the AMBER approach (Anchor, Move, Breathe, Express, Relax) over a period of six sessions.

The Amber approach teaches children:

  • The neuroscience behind how their brains work and appreciating    how their minds and bodies work together
  • Using breath to remain calm & relaxed
  • Kindness & empathy
  • Bottling up feelings
  • People time – plug out of devices, plug into people
  • Techniques that help their bodies to feel better when they are    anxious, stressed, scared, worried or excited
  • Gratitude practice
  • Relaxation

The AMBER resilience and wellbeing approach is an evidence-based curriculum that provides children with practical strategies to:

  • Improve confidence and self-belief
  • Regulate and calm bodies and brains
  • Positively express feelings
  • Self soothe & cope with difficult feelings/emotions
  • Boost the immune system
  • Improve physical and mental health

So, if your child has had this programme and you want strategies for continuing this at home, or, if you would like to find out about the techniques, you are very welcome to attend.
