Corona Virus Advice

9th Mar 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians

You are no doubt aware of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and its increasing incidence throughout the world at the present time.  Public authorities, including schools, are required to make every effort to proportionally and appropriately manage this public health concern. This is a rapidly evolving situation and the guidance associated with it will be updated regularly. Please refer to the websites provided for the most up-to-date information. We will make every conceivable effort to ensure our school functions as normal unless the Education Authority, in conjunction with the Public Health Agency, advises otherwise.

We have been given advice by DE on preventing the spread of infection. As there is no vaccine to prevent COVID-19, the best way to prevent infection is to avoid exposure. Therefore: -

  • Keep your child at home if they present as being unwell. They should not attend any education or childcare setting.
  • Practice good hand hygiene, washing hands thoroughly with soap and water.
  • Only use alcohol sanitiser if handwashing facilities are not available.
  • Like seasonal flu, if you cough or sneeze, use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose, throw it away carefully after use and wash your hands.
  • Emphasise the key message, ‘Catch It, Bin It, Kill It’ with your child.

We have purchased additional supplies of hand wash, paper towels, tissues and anti bacterial wipes, we are encouraging and promoting regular handwashing and we have given the children the attached messages.

It would be really appreciated if you could reinforce this at home.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs S Sheeran
