On Thursday 12th April, the senior football team took part in the much-anticipated finals of the Senior Cup, cheered on by supporters from each of the schools taking part.
Ballykeel's opening match was against Carniny, who took a 2-0 lead in the first half. Ballykeel pressed and probed after the break, but Carniny's defence held firm and the match finished 2-0.
The opponents in the second match - in which the Senior Plate was being contested - was St. Colmcille's. Ballykeel had the lions' share of the ball and created a series of chances, but St. Colmcille's defended in numbers and the vital breakthrough could not be made.
The match finished in a 0-0 stalemate, and the Plate will be shared between the two schools.
Congratulations to Carniny, who secured the Senior Cup with a victory over Gracehill.
