In both P7 classes we have been carrying out Problem Solving Activities. Last week Miss Kane came to watch P&BE solve some Postage Problems. The children had to weigh a number of parcels, round weights to the nearest 100g, read a price guide, calculate prices based on weight and add a surcharge depending on the destination - Miss Kane was super impressed about how much maths we did during the lesson! Finally we had to calculate the total overall cost of sending the parcels. It was a fun activity and we could all see how it could be used in real life.
