We love discovering new artists in P7SG, and this week we have been learning about pop artist Jim Dine. He is an American Painter, Printmaker, Sculptor, Poet, Conceptual and Performance Artist! Wow: he must be busy!
We have been focusing on his work with hearts. Jim has created lots and lots of artwork containing hearts. This week we are using his work as a stimulus to create our own heart-work!
Part of our learning has been to be able to use oil pastels with more confidence. After watching a 'how-to' video, we practised blending colours using the 'rule of 3'. This is when we use 3 colours close to each other on the colour wheel to create a lovely textured finish.
