This week in Power Hour we carried out an experiment to find out how different liquids have different densities. We used a variety of liquids, including water, golden syrup, washing up liquid and vegetable oil, decanting them into a jar and watching how each liquid settled into levels. The heavier liquids sank to the bottom and the less dense ones rose to the top.
When the liquids settled, we dropped a number of small objects into the jar: dice, popcorn, screws and cherry tomatoes to name a few! Each object sank to a certain level - some to the bottom and others only partly.
