Success at the BPSFA Senior Cup football finals

21st Apr 2026

The senior football team made the short trip to Ballymena Showgrounds to compete for the BPSFA Senior Cup. Having qualified in impressive fashion for this stage of the competition, the boys needed no encouragement as they stepped onto the pitch inside the main arena and lined up for their semi-final clash with Harryville.

Harryville set up well and defended effectively against wave after wave of Ballykeel attacks, though the barrage was constant and the reds took a deserved lead through a well-taken goal by William. A second soon followed, a fine solo goal by team captain Tom, cutting in from the bye line and lashing a fierce shot past the Harryville keeper. A third goal from Tom followed after the break, setting Ballykeel up well for the final.

The final was against a very strong Braidside Integrated side and an end-to-end contest followed, with few chances but tightly contested from the first to final whistles. Braidside took the lead early in the second half through a well-struck goal, but Ballykeel responded quickly, with Tom jinking past a couple of defenders before finishing in cool fashion.

With the match finishing 1-1 after normal time, extra time was required to separate these two quality sides. It was Ballykeel who made the decisive impact on the match with a good team move that resulted in the winning goal being crashed into the Braidside net by Jett.

Huge congratulations to everyone who took part today - a thoroughly deserved victory!

Thanks also to Harryville, Braidside, and Gracehill, and of course to our friends at Coaching for Christ for their valued and continued support by officiating today's finals.
