Language Development

The children will be learning to recognise the signs of Spring by exploring their outdoor environment.  They will be encouraged to develop their vocabulary by listening to stories, rhymes and songs related to this.

The World Around Us

Children will be learning about life cycles, planting, tasting vegetables and fruits. The children will be learning through real life experiences, planting and growing their own vegetables etc.

Early Mathematical  Development 

Children will take part in a variety of activities to encourage them to count accurately, match for shape, colour and  size.They will identify shape and patterns and develop their understanding of opposites e.g heavy/light, full/empty. Children will be encouraged to participate in practical activities such as measuring their plants as they grow.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development 

Children will show respect for each other through the Media Initiative Programme. They will be encouraged to reinact scenarios to show understanding of being respectful to each other. Children will be encouraged to develop a sense of responsibility by caring for their own plants and feeding the nursery fish. 

The Arts

Children will celebrate and show awareness of Easter and Mothering Sunday by participating in a variety of craft activities, e.g. model making, painting and cutting. They will also be encouraged to explore musical instruments and dance and sing to seasonal songs.

Fine and Gross Physical Development 

Children will be encouraged to develop their scissors skills through a variety of practical activities e.g. cutting cabbage and chopping vegetables. Children will be encouraged to explore the outdoor environment by climbing, sliding, balancing and digging in their garden.
