The day P6SM will never forget!

4th Mar 2019

When we arrived in school on Thursday 28th February no one expected the day to turn out the way it did. Mr Fisher gave us all the amazing news that we were heading to The Braid to greet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. There were frantic phone calls made, messages sent and posters made as the children got ready to head off. It was definitely not the most enjoyable walk down as we were determined to get a good spot to meet the Royals but it was great exercise and well worth the effort! The children lined the street along with Miss Bailey, Mrs Bradley and myself and wait excitedly for their arrival, the children even had flags to wave which looked terrific - all thanks to Mrs Bradley never throwing anything out!

When the Royals did arrive, I can only say it was one of the most memorable experiences of our lives! Many got to shake hands with the Duchess and a lucky few even got to talk to her. Hundreds of pictures were taken, along with many videos and some of the children even got interviewed by reporters about their experience.

Please have a look at pictures from this special day and keep an eye out in the local paper in the next week for more on the visit.

I was very proud of the children from Ballykeel today, not only did they look amazing in their uniforms with their flags and welcome sign, but they were incredibly polite, respectful and enthusiastic when speaking to the Duchess. I couldn't be more proud of them - you should be too!
